it’ll fall apart in your hands (series) - 2020

The It’ll fall apart in your hands series is a collection of fiber works made of wool roving that has been stitched into with a tin lizzie, a free motion sewing machine of sorts. These works are sketches of no one in particular that are fragile and knotted. They delve into the truth that connections inescapably have the threat of becoming threadbare hanging over them at every moment. Light easily passes through the pieces as they hang and the struggle on the part of the tin lizzie to make solid a form out of processed hair is apparent in the bunching of the thread and the massive knots from the machine failing to stitch evenly.
