My work is deeply fractured. It exists in not unrelated but disconnected segments.

                   - my collection
                   - my sketchbook
                   - the work you are able to see here

I’m not able to reconcile the gaps between each of these fragments of my creative practice and have little interest in a unified body of work. I view my consistent inconsistency as a skill that enables me to create without expectation or fear of breaking from my past self. In short, I am never afraid of evolving because I am never stagnant.

What am I thinking about lately?

I have found, at the core of my being, I am a fundamentally lonely person. I am painfully aware that all relationships are impermanent. No connection is exempt from change, even my relationship to my body has eroded and reformed drastically over my short lifetime. So I make work about this, I focus on analyzing every relationship in my life and examine what they once were, and what they are becoming. I am struggling, in my latest works, to soothe that lonely core of myself and make my peace with it, to embrace the impermanence in order to determine where to go from here.

Eden is a conceptual artist known primarily for their three dimensional work. Their work often touches on topics of connection, love, intimacy, vulnerability, and loneliness and they explore these concepts both through the personal and socio-political lense. A kid from Washington, DC, Eden has always been an inhabitant of cities, and moved to Chicago in 2018 when they began attending the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. There they are currently in the process of acquiring a BFA in studio art, as well as working on a thesis, a piece of experimental theater on the topic of mental illness and self acceptance. They are set to graduate with distinction in 2022. Eden often meanders between mediums, and self identifies as having a “fractured practice.” Working with fiber, wood, found objects, performance, ceramics, poetry, and more. They continue to learn new techniques and mediums and enjoy building their toolset of materials they are capable of working with.
